EMBRYOSCOPE

EMBRYOSCOPE TIME LAPSE SYSTEM

Embryoscope is known as an embryo monitoring system which is one of the techniques used in our laboratory. The incubation provides safety culture environment for embryos. Additionally to the regular incubators, it has a camera system which records the embryo development in every 10-20 minutes and at the end all these images combined by “time lapse”, form a video.

By using embryoscope we can follow the fertilization and dividing stages of embryos without removing them from the incubator for daily monitoring. The system enables to differentiate normal and abnormal fertilization, fast or slow embryo dividing. The embryos indicated optimum cell dividing can be chosen for implantation which increases the pregnancy rate.

Advantage of Embryoscope

• The embryos are followed without exposing them heat, light, etc.
• Stages of embryo development and its morphology are monitored.

Additionally;

i) Formation of polar particle
ii) Formation of PN
iii) Timing between the cell dividing
iv) Formation of cell nucleus
v) Formation and disappearance of fragmentations
vi) Following ICM and development of trophectoderm are stated as important factors in embryo’s liveliness and its potential of implantation.

By the guidance of these entire data, best embryo can be chosen for embryo transfer.

Images of embryos, condition of incubators are saved in computers. Result of the treatment can be evaluated according to these data.

Embryoscope can be recommended all patients but especially it is recommended to patients with recurrent IVF failures. Also, if patient has many embryos, embryoscope helps us to select the best embryo for implantation. Comparing the development of all embryos obtained from the same cycle is possible with the information received from embryoscope and since all datas are saved in computer, comparing the same patient’s embryos from different cycles is possible as well.

As a conclusion;

• Best embryo for implantation can be chosen noninvasively by embryoscope.
• It is partially possible to select the embryo with normal chromosomal structure by embryoscope.
